R. Madhavan- Actor

The famous actor of Indian film industry, R. Madhavan was born in Jamshedpur. Apart from being an actor, R. Madhavan is a successful film producer, writer as well as a television host.  He is a winner of Filmfare Award and has also won the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. His work has gained nominations and recognition from many other organizations. He is the only actor in Indian Film Industry who has appeared in the films of 8 different languages and has successfully achieved the appeal from pan- India.

He has appeared in many commercials and is the Brand ambassador for many famous brands. He has worked in many T.V. programs also. The game show Deal ya no Deal hosted by R. madhavan gained very much popularity among the Indian audience.

His wife’s name is Sarita Birije and is also having a son. R. madhavan is a famous personality of the Indian society. Apart from his contributions to the India Film Indutry, he is a supporter of PETA program and has actively participated in the promotion of this group. The production company owned by R. Madhavan is named as Leukos Films which has produced a movie in the year 2007 named Evano Oruvan.

The winner of the Miss India world Title in 2000 and bringing to India the title of Miss world 2000, Priyanka Chopra a famous bollywood actress as of now was also born in the Jamshedpur City on July 18th 1982. She is a model turned actress and is also a very good song writer with a melodious voice. This actress is known among her friends by the nick name "Piggy Chops". Her career achievements are marked by 4 filmfare awards, and a national award for the best Actress category. Apart from these she has won recognition and 7 nominations for several other awards.
Her career as an actress atrted from a tamil film in the year 2002 named Thamizhan.  Her first bollywood movie was The Hero which came in the year 2003. Her third bollywood movie was a Andaaz was a blockbuster and she received a filmfare award for the Best Female Debut in for this movie.  Priyanka’s acting career gained heights when she won the Filmfare Best Villain Award in the year 2004 for the movie Aitraaz. The other successful movies of her career are Krishh, 7 khoon Maaf, mujh se shadi karogi, fashion just to name a few.

Tanushree Dutta- Miss India Universe 2004

The model turned actress Tanushree Dutta was born in Jamshedpur on march 9th, 1984. She won the title of Miss India Universe in the year 2004 and later took over acting as a profession.  Tanushree Dutta belongsto a Hindu kayastha family of Jamshedpur. She is born and brought up in this Industrial city. Tanushree completed her earlier studies at school level in Jamshedpur only and went to Pune University for graduation. In 2004 she participated in Femina Miss India pageant and won the title of Femina Miss India Universe 2004. Later, Tanushree represented her country in the Miss Universe competition held at Quito in Ecuador. She could not win the title but was among the top 10 contestants. She started her film career in the year 2005. The Jharkhand Government released stamps and postcard with her photograph in order to honor this celebrity from Jamshedpur.

Imtiaz Ali- Hindi film director

The famous Indian film director Imtiaz Ali was born in Jamshedpur city in the on June 16, 1971. He is a very talented director, actor and a writer as well.  He started his career by directing the movie Sacha na Tha in 2005 and his second film jab we met was a blockbuster hit was released in 2007. The other movies directed by him are Love Aaj kal, released in 2009 and Rockstar in 2011. All the work done by him has gained fame and is appreciated by the audience as well as the critics. He is one of the best directors in the Indian Film Industry.

Originally imtiaz ali belongs to a Nawab family of Bihar. He was born and brought up in a muslim family in Jamshedpur. He completed his school education from ranchi, patna and Jamshedpur. He did his college from Delhi University, hindu College. He took part in the college theater activities and later formed   the dramatic society in the Hindu College and named it as Ibtida. He also did a diploma from a college in Mumbai  called Xavier Institute of Communication.


Saurabh Tiwary- India Cricketer

Apart from the bollywood personalities, Jamshedpur has given to India many sports personalities also. One of the is  Saurabh Sunil Tiwary who was born on December 30th 1989 in Ramgarh.  He was brought up in Jamshedpur. He is a high class one day international cricketer. He plays at the middle order and is a left hander batsman. He gave a wonderful performance in under 19 world cup, held in Malaysia in 2008 that was won by the Indian team.



Arjun Munda-present Chief Minister of Jharkhand.

The other notable personality belonging to the city of Jamshedpur is the Indian politician Arjun Munda. He was born in Jamshedpur on January 5th 1968.He was a former MP for the fifteenth Lok sabha. On 26th February he resigned as an MP and took over the charge as the Chief Minister of the Jharkhand state till date.

His Political career:

In the year 1980, The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha started the Jharkhand movement. Being a part of this movement, Arjun Munda started his political career. The movement aimed to give Jharkhand the status of an independent state. He helped the tribals and other backward sections of the society. In 1995 he represented Kharswan and was elected to the State assembly of Bihar. This seat was retained by him in the year2000 and 2005 also. He worked as a member of the BJP.
In the year 2000 when Jharkhand was formed, the first government was formed by BJP and Babulal Marandi became the first CM of Jharkhand. At that time Arjun Munda was the Social Welfare Minister in the cabinet. In the year 2003, Arjun Munda replaced the existing CM and took the charge as the chioef minister of the Jharkhand state. In 2005 he was again elected as the chief Minister of Jharkhand.
