The main railway station serving Jamshedpur is Tatanagar Railway station in Jharkhand which falls under South Eastern railway Zone and Chakradharpur division. Before Jharkhand  was established the station was located in Bihar. After the distribution of sates when Jharkhand was settled, Tatanagar came into the region of Jharkhand  . it is the main junction and is  located on the Howrah-Mumbai line of Indian Railways. Tatanagar is considered to be the most eventful railway station in the South-Eastern railways.
